Emergency Dentist Carlsbad

At DeAngelis Family Dentistry, we know that emergencies do not follow a schedule. If you happen to have a dental emergency, please call our office 760-444-5507, and we will do our best to accommodate you. Here are some tips to manage tooth injuries until you can see a dentist.

Lost Filling or Crown

A filling or crown can become loosened or even lost during eating. If this should happen, over-the-counter dental cement can be applied to alleviate any pain or discomfort until a dental appointment can be made. Clove oil can also be applied to help with pain. A loosened crown should be cleaned and reaffixed with dental cement. The dentist will try to reattach it, but a new crown may be needed if there is any damage or decay.

Cracked or Broken Tooth Emergencies in Carlsbad, CA

Rinse the mouth with warm water to clean the area. Apply gauze to stop any bleeding. Collect all the tooth fragments that can be found and clean them. To minimize swelling and alleviate pain, a cold compress can be applied to the face. Schedule an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible, but in the meantime, apply an over-the-counter dental cement to the area.

Dislodged or Loose Tooth
Emergencies in Carlsbad,
CA

If a tooth is loose but is still attached to blood vessels and nerves in the mouth, there is a good chance that it can be repositioned. See your dentist as soon as possible. In the meantime, apply a cold compress to the area and use over-the-counter medications to relieve pain.

A tooth that has been knocked out should be recovered and cleaned (handled ONLY by the crown, never by the root). Place it back into the socket if possible. If not, keep it in a cup of milk or saliva. The dentist will attempt to place the tooth back into its natural socket.
